Middle School Teacher

We seeking an enthusiastic and well-rounded Montessori teacher to develop, launch and run a new middle school to start in September 2009. Montessori Family School is located in the San Francisco East Bay (the two campuses are located in Berkeley and El Cerrito) and serves approximately 160 students, 3-12 years of age. We have been educating children for 27 years and have a strong, committed staff and family community.

Qualifications:

All candidates must have previous Montessori Teaching experience
Previous experience working with adolescents
A creative and inquisitive outlook is essential
Willingness and ability to put in the pioneering effort and long hours required to start and run a middle school
Montessori (9-12) teaching experience required if candidate has not completed Middle School Secondary Training Program
Strong leadership, organizational, and management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills

The prospective teacher must have completed, or be willing to complete, Montessori Secondary Training (e.g., the Secondary I Credential Program at the Houston Montessori Center).

This is a full time position, which includes sick leave, vacation days, medical, dental and retirement benefits.
