Calendar

Special Events

Several special events are held throughout the year, sometimes as a way to raise funds, and always as a way to build community. For specific dates on the events described below, please see the current school Calendar.

Tickets galore at Harvest Fair 2002

Spaghetti Carnival (October)

This is our fall fundraising carnival. It includes games of chance, craft booths, food booths, and amusements. Parent volunteers and student participation make this a festive and successful event.

Stone Soup and Thanksgiving Celebration (November 2009)

Dear Parents,

This year we will be celebrating Thanksgiving at our Elementary/Middle School Campus differently than in the recent past.  Because of the constantly growing number of people who wanted to attend, we are no longer able to accommodate everyone, so this will not be a parent event.  It will be for the students only.  All of the classes will celebrate Stone Soup on Friday, November 20, in place of their usual pizza lunch.  Our wonderful and energetic middle school students have been kind enough to volunteer to organize the event.  They will be asking parents to send in items for Stone Soup.  We anticipate that this will be a wonderful event for our students, run by our students!

On Wednesday, November 25, we will still celebrate Grandparents and Special Friends Day.  Our guests will enjoy morning coffee/tea and pastries and have an opportunity to see a film about Maria Montessori, visit the children’s classrooms, be part of an all school sing, and ask questions about Montessori education and specifically Montessori Family School.  Our guests will also hear  from some of our school Board members.

We look forward to both of these events.  We will send more information about these events in the near future.

Best regards,
Jane Wechsler

Holiday Sing 2002

Winter Holiday Sing (December)

Before winter break, the school comes together to celebrate the seasons' many different holidays in song. Parents are welcome to join in or just listen. The singing is followed by a reception with baked goods and a chance to visit.

Student Art Exhibit (March)

Each spring we recognize our student artists by showcasing their work at a local gallery. The opening of the exhibit, which runs for several weeks, is an exciting time for both the student artists and their families.

Read-a-Thon (April)

This is the month-long fund-raiser where students are sponsored by friends and family for a dollar amount per book read or read to them. The children have an opportunity to contribute to the school library fund while enjoying reading.

Camp Cazadero (May)

Camp Cazadero

Each year the entire elementary site goes on a three day, two night camping trip to Camp Cazadero in Sonoma county. This trip is a tradition the children look forward to with excitement each year. Teachers and volunteer parents accompany the children to the camp where they sleep in cabins. There are planned activities such as hiking, swimming, campfires, and a talent show. Camp Caz is great fun and a time your child will always remember.
