You're invited to an evening with Ann Sutton who will give an overview of the Montessori middle school program. Also joining Ann will be Caitlin Christensen, our own Lower Elementary I classroom teacher and graduate from a Montessori middle school in Texas. The event will be held in the Community Room at the El Cerrito campus. Call 510-236-8802 or email Margaret@montessorifamily.com for more details!
Several special events are held throughout the year, sometimes as a way to raise funds, and always as a way to build community. For specific dates on the events described below, please see the current school Calendar. |

Spaghetti Carnival (October)This is our fall fundraising carnival. It includes games of chance, craft booths, food booths, and amusements. Parent volunteers and student participation make this a festive and successful event. Stone Soup and Thanksgiving Celebration (November)This lunch has become one of the favorite traditions with our elementary students. With the help of a few parents, the children at the Kensington site prepare and serve lunch for each other based on the old fable of Stone Soup. Grandparents are invited to come as special guests at the feast. |

Winter Holiday Sing (December)Before winter break, the school comes together to celebrate the seasons' many different holidays in song. Parents are welcome to join in or just listen. The singing is followed by a reception with baked goods and a chance to visit. Student Art Exhibit (March)Each spring we recognize our student artists by showcasing their work at a local gallery. The opening of the exhibit, which runs for several weeks, is an exciting time for both the student artists and their families. |

Read-a-Thon (March)This is the month-long fund-raiser where students are sponsored by friends and family for a dollar amount per book read or read to them. The children have an opportunity to contribute to the school library fund while enjoying reading. |

Camp Cazadero (June)
Each year the entire elementary site goes on a three day, two night camping trip to Camp Cazadero in Sonoma county. This trip is a tradition the children look forward to with excitement each year. Teachers and volunteer parents accompany the children to the camp where they sleep in cabins. There are planned activities such as hiking, swimming, campfires, and a talent show. Camp Caz is great fun and a time your child will always remember. |
