He or she must have an ability to relate sensitively to children, a high degree of emotional maturity and stability, and the good judgment to handle a crisis should it occur.


This position assists the head teacher in managing a stable cohort of children in our spacious outdoor Montessori program. Duties include but are not limited to assisting students in the bathroom, ensuring students wash their hands frequently using both our outside sink and inside restroom sink, assisting in sanitizing materials in-between children's use, helping check students in at the gate, conducting visual overview supervision of a group of children, supervising children during lunch and nap, assisting create early childhood art projects, songs and stories for circle time, seasonal projects for the children and participating in staff planning meetings, admissions events and parent meetings as well as other duties as prescribed by the Director of Early Childhood.


Professional qualities include:

  • 12 Early Childhood Units to include Child Family and Community and Child Development as required by Community Care Licensing in order to supervise children

  • Background check live-scan clearance required to work with children

  • High school diploma or GED and some college (ECE units)

  • Experience working at a preschool

  • Experience working with the early childhood age group (2 1/2 - 5 year olds)

  • Knowledge of Community Care Licensing safety protocols and rules

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience managing groups of children

  • Understanding of CDC guidelines for COVID- 19 safety in child care facilities

  • Ability to follow direction

  • Knowledge of positive discipline

  • Knowledge of Montessori philosophy

We offer competitive salaries. This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefited position, M-F 8:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. to include some evenings and weekends with the majority of summer off outside of 2 weeks of summer camp.

COVID-19 considerations:
Teachers and students wear masks. We are operating the majority of time outside in our open air outdoor classroom. We have small cohorts with a large outdoor space. We offer free testing to our community for screenings.
